I have decided to further my knowledge and spirituality and three directions:

  • Paganism - I will continue my study of paganism, particularly nordic variety
  • Christianity - I will embark on a study of Christianity, particularly Anglicanism and Christian Mysticism (and hopefully a little Jewish Mysticism - e.g. the Kabbalah)
  • Buddhism - I have started to look into Mahayana (specifically Mantrayana and Shingon) Buddhism. I feel that Buddhism could definitely be put on top of any other religion as a layer (or alternatively treated as its own religion).

I want to find my path, and I doubt that one religion or book can help me do that.

Also, I am still looking for someone to go to Taiji with, it is in Headington (near Oxford) on monday evenings. If anyone wants to go then let me know. This is the website for the Taiji organisation: https://www.mastergou.co.uk/

Speak to you all soon.

Daniel

p.s. I will leave you with the Hundred-syllable Mantra of Varjasattva available here: https://pages.britishlibrary.net/lobster/buddha/vajrasatva.htmÂ

Step 1) Become a Reverend of a Trinitarian Christian Denomination

Step 2) Become a member of the Society of Ordained Scientists

It sounds so interesting.

Hello,

I will be needing funding to undertake my PhD at Oxford Brookes. I have estimated the following figure would cover living expenses, course fees and course resources:

£10,000 per year
3 years
Equals: £30,000 over three years

So there we go, I am going to have to find this from somewhere. So if you are a company and want to contribute to funding a Semantic Web and Religion based computing PhD project then please let me know as soon as possible. Everyone that financially contributes to the project will be referenced in my PhD documentation/thesis.

If you want to contact me about funding me then contact me by email to:

daniel at vanirsystems dot com

(you may request contacting me by phone)

So, I have just sat through 2.4 hours of Led Zep… enjoying of course. Started looking through all religion/belief things on various websites (mainly wikipedia). I thought that I would bullet point what I do believe and don’t believe, hopefully it might clear up what I actually do believe.

  • There is more than this materialistic world that we can see, hear, smell, taste and feel. There is some kind of spiritual side of life.
  • It is hard to understand this spiritual side to life, it is quite possible that it or something in it created the materialistic part of life. In which case there could be one or more Gods… or this spiritual part of life is actually God(dess).
  • I do not believe that one book holds the answer, all religious texts have their believable and unbelievable parts. Also we should not reject a religious text because of disagreeing with one part of it… or any way that the believers of that religion may/may-not act.
  • This one is interesting. I do believe in magic, some may call it Magick, some call it Akasha and some may call it the Holy Spirit… but there is some kind of essence/energies flowing through our materialistic world and it is possible for us (humans) and other animals can feel this essence.
  • Humans are animals, and animals should be treated just as well as all humans should be -> well!
  • I am vegetarian, however I do not disagree with any human eating meat at their own will. I do believe that animals should be kept in good conditions if they are raised to be eaten (e.g. free range) and (if neccessary) be killed using a good/nice/least-painful means.
  • I believe that everybody should be on a spiritual search, look inside yourself and try to discover what you believe and don’t be afraid to disagree with what anybody/anytext tells you in regards to personal belief.
  • Don’t feel scared of anybodies religions/belief. I have been to a few peoples christian churches (1 Pentacostal and 1 Anglican) before, just to see what it was like and see if i could feel anything. I have also been to a few pagan meets. I would do the same for any other religion.
  • There should be no hatred of any person/people… no racism, sexism, ageism or any other discrimination.
  • I do think that males are intended to be with females, however I do understand that a male/female can want to be with another male/female due to scientific reasons. Animals we do foster male and female and androgynous and hermaphrodite qualities… just as the Earth does. Same sex marriage should be allowed and shouldn’t be frowned on. People should be allowed to feel how they feel. No discrimination.
  • Wearing mixed fabric is fine.
  • Marriage is an to show love, and should not be seen as a legal/law thing. Sex before marriage is fine, banning it before marriage was probably an old legal way of contraception.
  • Sex should be a spiritual thing and shouldn’t really be treated badly.
  • Logic is an important thing, and should be taught well to people of a young age. This could be in the form of Aristotlean Logic, Boolean Logic, Propositional/Predicate Logic or whatever. Fuzzy Logic or Shades-Of-Grey logic are also important.
  • Music, colour and art can be spiritual… they try to (or just do) capture spiritual essence.
  • There are areas/paths on the Earth which can carry a strong spiritual essence (this may be different from person to person, some examples include Ley Lines, Stonehenge, Pyramids and Graveyards).
  • I think that preminitions and ESP is possible, it might be some kind of communication or bend in spiritual essence.
  • I don’t think fate exists, at least not too far in the future. If it does, then it can be modified easily. Alternatively I see it as a set of paths that anyone can take at any one moment.
  • I do think that there is one person out there for anyone, at any one point (in regards to love/partnership).
  • I do believe that medicine is not the only way of healing someone. It is quite possible that techniques such as: Homeopathy, Naturopathy, Reiki, TaiChi, Kundalini Techniques, Meditation, Christian Science Techniques are all quite viable options for healing.

So what do I believe? Is there a label for me, or do I make up one for me? - I believe what I believe.

(sorry if the spelling/grammar is bad, it is half 3 in the morning!!!!)

Anyways, night night.

Daniel

Damn spam,

Just got rid of about (what feels like) 100 spam comments on this blog.

(I have turned comments and pings off of this post - just for this one though)

Someone needs to shoot the software agent/bot that puts comments on blogs and emails people random rubbish. And the person that makes these bots should also be shot, as they are making a bad name for software developers and people in general computer science!
