JesusFace

Picture from rejesus.co.uk

As the article explains on rejesus.co.uk, a man pulled up his asparagus fern and this face was the shape of its roots. The greatest thing is, it was found in Belvedere - which is really near where I am from!!!!! (was found in 2006!)

Even if it is a hoax, it looks pretty cool!

Apple have been doing their Ubiquitous Computing homework for the new iPhone:

https://www.apple.com/iphone/technology/sensors.html

The phone recognises when you physically turn it around, when you move it up to your ear and when you have gone into a darker/lighter place. Very Ubiq.

You should really try Malcolm Huxters guided meditations. I just tried his Body Scan, I came out of it feeling really really relaxed and calm. They are available here: https://www.buddhanet.net/audio-meditation.htm

Seriously, I am going to be trying the others as soon as I can.

Happy New Year everybody
Spirit Words:
Christian News: Today (6th January 2007) is Epiphany (although most Christian Churches will be holding services for it tomorrow), Epiphany is a holiday celebrating when the wise-men (Magi) went to Bethlehem. This is an interesting holiday, the Magi were (most probably) Zoroastrians - good question is why they really wanted to find a Jewish baby? (maybe I am just being a little stupid).
Other News: Today is also Tirer Gâteau, it is apparently Voudon… if anyone can tell me what this holiday is for then I would be very greatful.
My Personal News:
I have had a good Christmas holiday, I went to Bristol (and the surrounding areas) for the first time, had fun with Beki and her family… had fun with my family. Family/Personal things are going really well, and I am really happy.
I have applied to do a part time masters (can’t remember if I have blogged about that yet), I should know in a few weeks if they will accept me. Also in a few weeks I will find out my results of Semester 1 of my final year at Brookes, I hope I have done well.
Other things… I am quite poor at the moment, it will be nice to finish at Brookes and start fresh in a new job, in a new flat/house and a new segment of my life.
My Busy/Technology News:
I am going to be so busy for the rest of January.
  • I still have some websites to finalise through Vanir Systems
  • I have to do WxCocoa stuff through Brookes Computing Society (as well as help fellow students learn Objective-C and Cocoa)
  • I want to change Vanir Systems a bit, and get a few long-term projects going through it.
  • I also want to make a headstart on my upcoming semester modules.
  • I have to do a lot of my project and dissertation.
Tomorrow I will create a schedule for me to do all of this stuff, hopefully I can do everything I need to.
Other:
Current Music: Smashing Pumpkins - Rotten Apples Album
I think that will do for a post for now. Talk to you later.

Music by Mike Patton:

  • With Rahzel
  • In Faith No More (Epic is such a classic!)
  • Fantomas (See Rosemary’s Baby if you want to be freaked-out a little, else Page 28 has quite a nice video that is comic style with thrash metal background, Page 11 is a video with stop motion)
  • Mr Bungle (who like to torment the Red Hot Chili Peppers)
  • Peeping Tom
  • Tomahawk

Programming Languages of the Week:

  • Objective-C
  • Java
  • Haskell

Poems written recently:

  • Hope and Knowledge
  • Festive Treats

So there we go, in quite a odd mood to. It is 2am, and I am in my flat going to go to Oxford City Centre for 9am, and then my parents are coming to pick me up for Christmas.

I get to go to Bekis house on the 27th, for the first time… I am not nervous, tis all good.

It is coming up to (Christian) Christmas, and tonight is the (Pagan) Yule Holiday :)
Anyways, I think that is all for tonight. Talk to you soon.

* I should probably explain who Beki is. Beki is my girlfriend. For those of you who don’t know I split up with Maria (who was my fiance) at the end of September 2006

https://www.macdevcenter.com/pub/a/mac/2006/12/19/building-a-game-engine-with-cocoa.html?page=1

Just looking through the above Objective-C tutorial about how to make a Game Engine Using Cocoa…. and I am thinking: “Blimey! Objective-C has features that Java has only only just implemented like the new if-then-else syntax”

((int)p.x % 2 == (int)p.y % 2) ? boardColors[0] : boardColors[1];

Its really amazing. I am going to promote Objective-C more.

I am going to write a book about Objective-C development, any suggestions would be of great help.

I have decided to further my knowledge and spirituality and three directions:

  • Paganism - I will continue my study of paganism, particularly nordic variety
  • Christianity - I will embark on a study of Christianity, particularly Anglicanism and Christian Mysticism (and hopefully a little Jewish Mysticism - e.g. the Kabbalah)
  • Buddhism - I have started to look into Mahayana (specifically Mantrayana and Shingon) Buddhism. I feel that Buddhism could definitely be put on top of any other religion as a layer (or alternatively treated as its own religion).

I want to find my path, and I doubt that one religion or book can help me do that.

Also, I am still looking for someone to go to Taiji with, it is in Headington (near Oxford) on monday evenings. If anyone wants to go then let me know. This is the website for the Taiji organisation: https://www.mastergou.co.uk/

Speak to you all soon.

Daniel

p.s. I will leave you with the Hundred-syllable Mantra of Varjasattva available here: https://pages.britishlibrary.net/lobster/buddha/vajrasatva.htmÂ
