Personal @ 25 June 2007, “No Comments”

Hello everybody, I haven’t really given a blog post for a while. I hope the reader is ok!

I have been working very hard at Lovell Johns where I am a Systems Administrator, a Web Developer and a Software Developer. As usual I try to promote good practice, professionalism and standardisation… its going reasonably well, but there is still a way to go. I am thinking about providing little tutorial/discussion type things about my interests, as they would be a beneficial to the company.

My Vanir Systems work is still continuing outside of lovell johns, and that is going well.

- Thats the business over.

As for personal stuff: Beki and I are very much in love and we’re coming ever closer to being in a relationship for one year. I have been feeling good mentally, physically and spiritually.

Also for those who don’t know already. My final degree classification is a 2:1 which I am very happy about, I am even more happy because I managed to get 4 A’s and a B+ in my final semester!

It is my birthday today (if you didn’t know). Got quite a few cards:

Picture of my birthday cards

I apologise for the upside down blurry picture, its the best I could do with my phone camera when I had my cards on my bed. Thank you to all those who got me cards.

22 Today: Daniel Lewis

I found this poem by St John of The Cross. I thought I would share it with you because it is quite a lovely poem about the Trinity (it being the 1st Sunday after Trinity tomorrow). Here it is:Romance on the Gospel text “In principio erat Verbum,” regarding the Blessed Trinity.

In the beginning the Word
was; he lived in God
and possessed in him
his infinite happiness.
That same Word was God,
who is the Beginning;
he was in the beginning
and had no beginning.
He was himself the Beginning
and therefore had no beginning.
The Word is called Son;
he was born of the Beginning
who had always conceived him,
giving of his substance always,
yet always possessing it.
And thus the glory of the Son
was the Father’s glory,
and the Father possessed
all his glory in the Son.
As the lover in the beloved
each lived in the other,
and the Love that unites them
is one with them,
their equal, excellent as
the One and the Other:
Three Persons, and one Beloved
among all three.
One love in them all
makes of them one Lover,
and the Lover is the Beloved
in whom each one lives.
For the being that the three possess
each of them possesses,
and each of them loves
him who bears this being.
Each one is this being,
which alone unites them,
binding them deeply,
one beyond words.
Thus it is a boundless Love that unites them,
for the three have one love
which is their essence;
and the more love is one
the more it is love.

As I said before, it is a Romance Poem by St John of the Cross and can be found on Carmelite.com (amongst other places on the web). St John of the Cross is a Saint that is recognised by most traditional denominations of Christianity (including C Of E and Roman Catholicism), which I find interesting as he was quite a mystic, anyways, his day is 14th December in the Anglican church and his liturgy goes like this:

O God, the judge of all,
who gave your servant John of the Cross
a warmth of nature, a strength of purpose
and a mystical faith
that sustained him even in the darkness:
shed your light on all who love you
and grant them union of body and soul
in your Son Jesus Christ our Lord,
who is alive and reigns with you,
in the unity of the Holy Spirit,
one God, now and for ever.

Which can be found in the Book Of Common Worship.

Byes for now,

Daniel

I do this at least times a year, but I will do it again.

USERS OF THE WEB

Do not use Internet Explorer, please migrate to Firefox or Opera. There are so many holes in all versions of internet explorer, particularly when it comes to standardisation (“You don’t trust a scaffolder who puts up scaffolding in a non-standardised way!”). We should have a good foundation (i.e. a good browser) for good scaffolding (i.e. standardised HTML/XHTML and CSS).

So I urge you all to move over to Firefox and/or Opera Browsers if you haven’t already. And if you really don’t like the idea of doing that then at least upgrade your Internet Explorer to the latest version (version 7+ if you can).

Please, I am asking nicely.

I say this as I have spent a lot of my day today doing “IE Fixes” which are specific CSS commands to fix a view so it is common to all browsers. It would be a lot easier and better for everybody if nobody used Internet Explorer.

As I haven’t been able to get any tools for my other work, I decided to make a completely new website for Vanir Systems last night. Didn’t take me long at all, I hope you like the new Pop-Art style:

Enjoy!
