To my readers,

I need your help… I am now without a job, can you help me?

I am an experienced Web Developer that can build anything from a simple web page to a full web application or anything in between - I work well building components/objects/tools as part of larger systems, and I love working in proper Software Engineering teams. I also have experience as a Technology Evangelist and as a Professional Services Consultant (both within the realm of Linked Data and the Semantic Web).

For those who have a technical background: my current most well known/used language is PHP (and I have experience in CodeIgniter (an MVC system like Ruby-on-Rails), and a growing knowledge of Doctrine2 (an ORM System like Java-Hibernate)). I also have professional experience of Python, Ruby and Java programming languages, however, I might be a little rusty and would need to refresh my knowledge of them before starting any projects with those languages. I love data - databases, knowledge engineering, information flows, webservices - and I can use a range of database and knowledge base systems (RDBMS/SQL, Triple-stores/Quad-Stores/SQL, NoSQL (MongoDB)). I can also code front-end systems using XHTML/HTML5, JavaScript/jQuery and CSS - however, my back-end skills a probably better than my front end skills.

Ideally I would be looking for a permanent role, but I am open to contract/freelance positions (particularly if they are very-short-term). I am based in the Bristol and North Somerset area (of England, UK), and I’d like to stay around here due to commitments that I have in the area - so I would be looking for either a place with an office in the area, or would be comfortable with me working from home (I have experience of working from home remotely for larger/distributed organisations) or working around in various locations. I am happy to travel to London from time to time, or anywhere else in the South of England & Wales for that matter.

If you can help me - then please do contact me on one of the following methods:

  1. By email to: [email protected] (or [email protected] ) - I am happy to send you a CV.
  2. By my mobile phone to: +447834355516 (thats in international-friendly format - I’ll keep it charged up, please do try to email me first though to pre-arrange a time, and also note that I do currently work on British-Summer-Time)
  3. By skype to: daniel.lewis
  4. Through Social media such as:
    • LinkedIn: @danieljohnlewis (which I use primarily for business - and has a lot of my history included)
    • Twitter: @danieljohnlewis (which I use as a mixture of business and pleasure - primarily as a two-way communication tool)
    • Facebook: @danieljohnlewis (which I only really use for social/informal conversation - but if you really want to contact me that way then do)

Please note that if you would like me to work for you, you might not be the first person contacting me - so I might have to turn you down. I will also apply for jobs directly, but the power of social networking has found me jobs in the past so I thought I should try again. Of course, I’ll keep this blog-post up-to-date with my status so that you can be kept up to date.

I look forward to hearing from you soon…. and wish me luck!

Daniel
